Stayed here for 2 nights about a week ago and it was amazing. We took a private transfer from Bangkok and were dropped off at the Resotel Pier (Phutakien Pier). The boat ride is fun, the River Kwai is very nice. Such a unique resort, it was worth the trip from Bangkok. It was one of our favorites after previously visiting Krabi, Phuket and Bangkok. The Lawa Cave is a short hike away, very cool to check out (300 baht/person). We took a taxi to Erawan Falls, wow, what an amazing place as well! Would definitely recommend the Float House.
After 4 days at the Floadhouse you do not want to go home 🙂 It is completly fantastic – the rooms are amazing like the pictures show – even better ! – the staff is unbelieveble and making you feel like a King:) – nothing is to much – we will come back for sure to this fantastic place in the midle of noware :)” thanks
It took me a 60 minute taxi ride to the bus station in Bangkok, then a 3 hour minibus ride to Kanchanaburi, followed by a 75 minute tuk tuk ride to the pier and lastly a 15 minute long tail boat ride to the hotel. And it was worth every minute. The villas are huge with a big, comfortable bed and a large day bed in the room. Your own private deck with both deck chairs and double rocking bench. Air conditioned and fan cooked, the rooms are so inviting. The restaurant serves both Thai and Western food, with both being really tasty and very reasonably priced. The restaurant location is perfect with all tables having a full view of the river. I loved the passing long tail boats that causes your deck to gently rock as they pass that I found so relaxing. Lastly all the staff were friendly and willing to go that little bit extra to make your stay all that more special. This is probable the most perfect hotel I have ever stayed, in the most perfect location.
Stayed here for a couple of nights during our visit to the region to see the Burma Railway artefacts. It floats on the river Kwai and is a terrific base to visit the memorial as well as other local attractions. The facility is good + the staff are fantastic, our local “guide” was fantastic and couldn’t help us enough.
One of the most unique places I have stayed Key Points * you have to jump off your balcony into the River Kwai and get taken down the river to the beach……need I say more * The rooms/villas are really nice, food is good * Did I mention…. you have to jump off your balcony into the River Kwai and get taken down the river to the beach!!!!!
Arrived yesterday with my family for 2 adjoining “rooms” (which doesn’t really describe these beautiful mini bungalows) and we have been blown away by the sheer beauty and uniqueness of the Float house. It is amazing, starting with the motorboat down the Kwai, to this secluded remote stretch of river, you arrive at this beautiful floating hotel which manages to make you feel like you are totally removed from civilization and yet still discreetly pampers you with WiFi, cell service, AC and other modern room enhancements for those (like us with teenagers!) need, while still feeling so at peace and remote. The staff are so kind, the room beautiful and comfortable, absolutely worth the price to experience the Float House! Wish we didn’t have to leave today!
This was a wonderful experience for myself and my daughter. Mr Kai was a wonderful host and looked after us really well. He was courteous, helpful and respectful getting us back to Bangkok on time to get our flight. The accommodation was super, we had a wonderful nights sleep. The tour was well planned and interesting. We would thoroughly recommend everything about this tour. We will be back.
What a fantastic place, so peaceful and tranquil. Have never been anywhere like it. You have to jump off the pontoon outside your room and float down the river with the current! The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable with robes and toiletries. The food in the restaurant and cocktails were great. The food portions are large however and we could not eat it all. The staff were happy and helpful. We only stayed one night but would certainly visit again.
Beautiful rooms with a nice patio that has a swing, not that many people. I spent hours just sitting by the river with a beautiful view of the opposing Cliffside and lush vegetation. You are in nature, I saw a snake in the water swimming towards my neighbors bungalow. However, I never had any issue whatsoever with any mosquitos. The boat ride from the pier closes at 6pm, I arrived quite later after underestimating getting there from Bangkok but they were willing to arrange a late transfer for me. This is one of my fondest memories as this long boat was going up river in the night, unknkown creatures calling, fire-fly like insects displaying, the sparkling stars. My stay was stopped abruptly as I had to return home on short notice. The hotel was accommodating and arranged a taxi straight to Bangkok. It cost me 4500 baht but it was direct and he got me there in less than 4 hours. Will definitely come back to this place at a better time.
These luxurious villas on the River Kwai are out of this world. Pure luxury everywhere you look. The breathtaking view over the river from your private floating villa, the incredible details in the rooms and the floating restaurant and bar, there is nothing like it. I enjoyed the FloatHouse very much. The relaxation starts when you take the longtail-boat up the river to get to the resort and continues on you private floating terrace with a swing, where you can relax and enjoy the stunning view of the river and the jungle all around. My advice: walk up the stairs in the back of the resort and take a walk through the jungle. I never thought you could have so much luxury and be so close to the nature at the same time.” Hope, I get the chance to go back soon. 🙂
We booked this as part of our Honeymoon and this is the most idyllic place I have ever stayed. Great food, great tour, great people and an unique experince. Highly recommended, hopefully one day we will visit again.
One beautiful hotel on the river kwai. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel very mucy. The rooms were really nice and everything was very clean. The breakfast and diner tasted great an the hotel staff was very friendly.
We stayed for two nights with my daughter and her partner in adjoining rooms. We had a fabulous time….service was very good and food quality and value was excellent. Being on the river was so relaxing and swimming in the clean cool water was a lot of fun. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They even opened the restaurant earlier than the scheduled time so we could get away early on our last day. We would definitely return if possible and highly recommend for a restful and relaxing break.
We loved our night here with all our meals included. The food was lovely and staff really friendly. The room was huge with a great view. You get used to the bobbing around. Hope to stay here again. Loved getting the boat to and from it.
Just finished a 2 night stay at this lovely property. I wasn’t completely sure what to expect as it was a floatel and I have never stayed in one before. Reviews were very good so figured I would branch out. I’m glad I did as it exceeded my expectations. Given the remote environment it was immaculately clean. There were no issues with mosquitoes or flies so I enjoyed not only my lovely locally resourced room but also the private porch and deck with a swing which sat right in the river. The dining room was nicely situated on the river and the food and service were outstanding! We also had the pleasure of spending some one on one time with our guide, Simon. He did a wonderful job of showing us the area and talking about the lifestyle of the local people. We really enjoyed our time with him!” Simply Beautiful
